Brown and her husband, Jason, have been married 22 years and their approach to children has always been: "If it happens, it happens."
On Wednesday, it happened when Carolyn Rose, a healthy 8-pound baby, was born.
The birth came as a complete surprise to the couple, who didn’t know they were expecting.
The 47-year-old first-time mom said she had had some things going on with her body, but thought she was moving into the next phase of life.
She went to Beverly Hospital suffering severe abdominal pain.
"(The doctors said,) 'It's good news there's no blockage, you are pregnant and you are going to have her now!'" she said.
Brown attributed a tummy bulge to her age.
"I felt like I was turning into my mother," she said.
She said the baby is already "daddy's little girl."
"When she cries I am there," Jason Brown said.
The couple are borrowing a bassinet and a stroller to take Carolyn home. Friends and relatives are rushing around getting stuff ready for them.
Jason Brown said their daughter will be an only child.
"I will get the surgery before it even becomes a thought," he said.
